About
Dr. Indira Karuppusamy is presently working as assistant professor, Department of Chemistry, M. Kumarasamy College of Engineering, Karur, India. Dr. Indira received her doctorate at Anna University, Chennai. During her doctorate, she received UGC-DAE-CSR fellowship and her PhD thesis work was about the development of TiO2 nanotubes for biomedical applications. Dr Indira pursued her postdoctoral research from National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. She worked as research associate at IGCAR, Kalpakkam, India. Dr. Indira’s research work focuses on the development of nanomaterials (Nanotubes, nanoaprticle and nanocomposites) for biomedical, corrosion, photocatalytic applications etc. The TiO2 nanotubes she developed could be used as an orthopaedic implant than its conventional counter parts. Various biosynthesised metal oxide nanoparticles exhibiting better photocatalytic degradation of organic contaminats. Dr. Indira has published more than 40 research publications in peer-reviewed international journals and 4 book chapters in the area of nanomaterials. She has participated in more than 15 national and international conferences and received best presentation award in more than 3 conferences. Besides, she organized more than 5 national/international conferences. In addition, Dr. Indira is a guest editor for a special issue in more than 3 scopus indexed journals and also served as reviewer in more than 15 internal peer-reviewed, highly reputed journals. She is the member of various academic and professional bodies including Indian Society for Electroanalytical Chemistry (ISEAC), Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), National Association for Corrosion Engineers (NACE).
