About
Dr. R. Amirtharajan was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India, in 1975. He received a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from P.S.G. College of Technology, Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore, India, in 1997. M.Tech. and Ph. D. from SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur, India, in 2007 and 2012, respectively. He joined SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India (Previously Shanmugha College of Engineering) as a Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1997 and is now a Professor. His research interests include Information Security, Image Encryption, Information Hiding, and Secure Communication. So far, he has filed two international patents (USA & WIPO - PCT/IB2010/054086, US 2011/0228943 A1 & US 8,971,531 B2 (Issued March 2015)) and one national patent; Recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists (Career-long impact), Stanford–Elsevier ranking, 2025. He has published more than 428+ research articles in national and international journals, including 152 SCI/SCIE/ESCI articles with a Cumulative Impact Factor of 492.71, h-index 40, as well as 119 IEEE conference papers, earning him 5 Best Paper Awards. He has supervised four PhD scholars, one PhD student, 26+ master’s students, and over 1,000 undergraduate project students. He received the Founder Chancellor Award for the best PhD. Thesis for 2013 from SASTRA Deemed University, and he received the SASTRA Anukul Puraskar for Higher Involvement in Research and Education Award (SAPHIRE Award) for 2011-2012, 2013-2014, and 2025-2026. He is a Life Member of CRSI, SSI, IAENG, and IACSIT. He also served as Associate Editor of Scientific Reports and as former Associate Editor of the IET Image Processing Journal, as a TPC Member, and as a Reviewer for more than 100 IEEE- and Springer-supported international conferences, in addition to over 100 peer-reviewed journals. He had been working on a funded project in steganography, sponsored by the DRDO, Government of India, New Delhi, India.
