About
Dr. Manoj B. Gawande (FRSC, FICS, Doc-Habil) received his Ph.D. degree in chemistry in 2008 from the Department of Chemistry, Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly UDCT), Matunga, Mumbai, India, under the supervision of Prof. R.V. Jayaram. During his research tenure, he has been awarded several prestigious fellowships, including a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) from CSIR, New Delhi, India; a Brain Korea-21 (BK-21) Research Fellowship from the Ministry of Science, South Korea; and an FCT Research Fellowship from MCTES, Lisbon, Portugal. In 2013, he worked as a visiting professor at the Division of Chemistry and Biological Chemistry, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. In 2015 and 2016, he received the “Dean’s Award“ from Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic, for best publications output. From 2019 to 2023, he was selected as one of the top 2% scientists in the world, as published by Stanford University. During his career, he has visited more than 25 countries. Presently, he is working as an associate professor at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai Marathwada Campus, Jalna, and as a visiting professor at VSB, Ostrava, Czech Republic. During his stay at RCPTM, Palacky University, he has held several visiting professor/scientist positions, including with Prof. Steve Ley (Cambridge University, Cambridge, United Kingdom), Prof. Dunwei Wang (Boston College, Boston, Chestnut Hill, MA, USA), and Prof. Rajender S. Varma (EPA, Cincinnati, USA). His research interests are in the development of greener raw materials and the synthesis of nanomaterials and their applications in sustainable chemistry. He has published more than 180 scientific publications, including reviews, patents, research articles, and editorial and commentary articles (more than 21,000 citations). He published his work in top-tier journals, including Small, ACS Catalysis, Applied Catalysis B: Energy and Environment, Chemical Science, Chemical Eng. J., Green Chemistry, Account of Chemical Research, ChemSocRev, Chemical Reviews, and Nature Catalysis, among others.
In 2021, he was elected as “Life Fellow” of the Indian Chemical Society. Prof. Gawande has been awarded the prestigious “RSC Research Fund” grant 2021 by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Cambridge, UK. Additionally, in 2021 he was nominated as a Fellow of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences. Recently, he received the prestigious Materials Research Society of India (MRSI) Medal for the year 2024 for his significant contribution to materials and sustainable chemistry. He edited 3 books in the field of green and sustainable chemistry.
Dr Gawande is an editor of several leading journals, including an Executive Advisory Member for ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering (ACS publications), Current Organic Chemistry (Bentham publications); Associate Editor for Current Catalysis; a Regional Editor (Europe Zone) for Current Organic Synthesis (Bentham Publications), and an Editorial Board Member of Scientific Research (Nature Publication). He has served as guest editor for a virtual issue on “N-doped Carbon Materials: Synthesis and Applications” by ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering (ACS Publications) and a special issue on “Single-Atom Catalysts” by Small and Advanced Material Interfaces (Wiley Publications).
