About
English professor with a research-driven, service-oriented, and student-centered teaching philosophy. I teach first- and second-year composition, digital rhetoric, bilingual literacy, and cultural studies in both online and in-person modalities. I mentor undergraduate students as a thesis director and have over 20 years of experience in 2-year and 4-year institutions in Costa Rica and the United States. My research focuses on digital learning technologies, artificial intelligence for writing instruction, virtual reality for developing research and writing skills, and social justice in bilingual education. I lead grant-funded projects, collaborate across institutions, and serve on college-wide and national committees. Native Spanish speaker; fluent in English and Portuguese.
