About
Dr. Shivani R. Pandya is an Assistant Professor and researcher specialising in Materials Chemistry, Nanotechnology in Biomedical and Environemtal application, Forensic Nanotechnology. She earned her Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Nanoscience (Nanomedicine) from the Central University of Gujarat, following a master’s in forensic science and a bachelor’s in microbiology from Gujarat University.
Her research focuses on the design and application of nanomaterials for biomedical sensing and Environmental remediation applications, with particular emphasis on nanocarriers for drug delivery and functional nanostructures for forensic and diagnostic use. During her Ph.D., she investigated magnetic nanomaterials, their interaction with metallo-dendrimers, and MOF-based systems, supported by collaborations with leading scientists including Dr. Sonal Bakshi, Prof. Martin, and Prof. Yogendra Mishra. She also worked at the Department of Atomic Energy (Indore) to study magnetic properties of nanoparticles.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Pandya developed PEG-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles for DNA extraction from biological samples, collaborating across disciplines in genetics, microbiology, physics, and analytical chemistry. She has since expanded her research to drug kinetics, anticancer therapeutics, and biosensing.
Dr. Pandya has published widely, including in RSC Advances, and her portfolio includes eight research papers, five reviews, and several conference proceedings. Skilled in advanced characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, UV-Vis, DLS, VSM, and others), she bridges materials science with biomedical and forensic applications.
An active Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and the American Chemical Society, Dr. Pandya also serves as a peer reviewer and research grant assessor. She is passionate about interdisciplinary science and is committed to translating her research into meaningful solutions with societal impact.
