Dr. Anil Bhardwaj is the Director of Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, India. Earlier he was at Space Physics Laboratory of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, ISRO, Trivandrum, India, since 1993, and was the Director of Space Physics Laboratory during Feb. 2014 to Feb. 2017. He is the recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award (2007), INSA-Vainu Bappu Memorial Award (2016), and Infosys Prize in Physical Sciences (2016). He was awarded NRC Senior Research Associteship by US National Academy of Science in 2003. He worked at Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL, during January 2004 to October 2005. He was awarded fellowship grant by United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs, Vienna, Austria, in 1996. He is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences; Indian National Science Academy; National Academy of Sciences, India; Indian Geophysical Union; and Kerala Academy of Sciences. He was also awarded ISRO Team Excellence Award for Chandrayaan-1 Science and Mission in 2008, and ISRO Merit award in 2012. He is an elected member of International Academy of Astronautics and International Astronomical Union. Currently, he is the Vice-Chair of COSPAR Commission B, Associate Editor of Advances in Space Research, Member of Editorial Board for Space Science Reviews, member of INSA-ICSU Committee for COSPAR, SCOSTEP and URSI, and a member of several national and international committees in the area of Planetary and Space Sciences. He is a Distinguished Alumnus Awardee of Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi (2015). ISRO awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award to him in 2017.
