About
Arifur is a faculty member of the Department of Fisheries Biology and Genetics at Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. With a strong academic foundation, he graduated top of his class with both a B.Sc. in Fisheries and an M.Sc. in Fish Biology and Genetics from Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh. He received prestigious awards like the President's Gold Medal, Prime Minister Gold Medal, and University Awards, as well as the University’s Publication Award and Best Researcher Award for his impactful research contributions. Arifur's research areas include conservation biology, fish morphology, ecology, and evolutionary biology, with hands-on experience in breeding techniques and habitat-linked adaptations in fish species. His current work includes studies on phenotypic plasticity in climbing perch and conservation strategies for native fish facing environmental pressures. He will be starting his PhD at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he will explore the ecological biomechanics of fish to acquire new knowledge on the morphology and physiological performance of fish. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, ukulele, and singing.
