About
•••••••••••••Education••••••••••••
I, Arpan Das, received the Bachelor of Engineering (Metallurgical and Materials Engineering) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India during 1998-2002; Master of Technology (Metallurgical and Materials Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India during 2002-2004 and the Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India during 2006-2013.
•••••••••••••Experiences•••••••••••••
I worked as a ‘Scientist’ at CSIR – National Metallurgical Laboratory Jamshedpur, India during September 2004 – December 2014 (for 10 years). I also worked with Professor Sir HKDH Bhadeshia as a BOYSCAST FELLOW at Phase Transformations & Complex Properties Research Group, Materials Science & Metallurgy, University of Cambridge, UK (https://www.phase-trans.msm.cam.ac.uk/) during May 2009 – May 2010. Currently, I have been working as a ‘Scientific Officer’ at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India since December 2014. I have been participating actively in reviewing articles from different international journals. I am also the members for several scientific societies.
•••••••••••••Research and Projects•••••••••••••
My current research includes: steels, martensitic transformations, deformation, fatigue and fracture micro mechanisms, structure-fracture-property, image processing and machine learning applications to materials science. I have published more than 70 articles in different international journals (see Google Scholar, Research Gate and Scopus profile). I also carried out many different national/international projects from different funding sources.

•••••••••••••Passion•••••••••••••
I am devoting my energy towards understanding phase transformations, deformation and fracture micro-mechanisms of steels through experiments, theories and computer models. I am passionate about playing guitar (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCem1vYWY4KquUvSvJT1lkOw), tabla, painting and keeping fit. My passion is the energy that keeps me confidently going with happiness, excitement, enthusiasm, courage and anticipation. Art became a part of my life at an extremely young age. In my free time, I read a lot of books, listen to music, watching movies and playing badminton.
