About
Ample evidence in recent past, projected chloroplasts as sensors for environmental cues, priming the plant response to deal with the adversities. We are interested to understand the role of Chloroplast for sensing and managing various environmental/developmental cues and cognate responses. We are trying to unveil the readjustments in the chloroplast homeostasis and to delineate various retrograde signaling cascades initiated from the Chloroplast using the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and High Altitude Extremophiles of western Himalayas.
In the past, I worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Photosynthesis and Stress Signaling Group, Shanghai Center for Plant Stress Biology (PSC), SIBS, CAS, China, where we worked in the area of stress signaling to understand the role of a chloroplast as a stress sensor and to decipher the cognate chloroplast-to-nucleus retrograde signaling pathways.
In my Ph.D. thesis, I worked in the area of Plant biotechnology for Identification and characterization of dormancy/germination related proteins so as to define the molecular basis and targets, which can be exploited for alleviation, for germination related problems in high altitude plants. In past, I have also worked in the area of Drug discovery in Panacea Biotec Ltd, Mohali, India where I have had expertise in handling cell lines, cell-culture, development of various screening assays for NCEs such as in-vitro assays, cell-based assays, fluorescent assays, radioligand binding assays, etc.
