About
Dr. R.Suganya is currently an Associate Professor Senior (since Noc 2022) in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai and earlier I was associated with Department of Information Technology at Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) Madurai. She joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at TCE, Madurai in July 2006. She earned her doctorate in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, in 2014. Her research concentrated on the role of classification and retrieval of ultrasound liver images using machine learning algorithms. She is recipient of Best Familiar Faculty Award (2016-17) from South Indian ASDF Awards and Young Women in Engineering Award 2017 from Venus International Foundation in Annual Women’s Meet (AWM). She is an Associate Dean for an International Relations (2019- 2022)
Her h-index of 11 (i-10 index 10, total citations 225, Source: Google Scholar) strongly endorses her high research productivity. She has 58 publications in Scopus Indexed. She published two patent and filed 2 patents. She was granted one design patent. She is an author of the book “Classification of US Liver Images Using Machine Learning Techniques” (LAMBERT Academic Publishing, Germany, 2014) and “Big Data in Medical Image Processing” (Taylor & Francis Group, 2017). She is a co-author of three book chapters in IGI Global Publishers. She has published 26 articles in the peer-reviewed International Journals and over 35 conference proceedings – Inderscience, Springer, LNCS, Elsevier, IEEE Xplore, and Science Journals and has delivered over 50 lectures in the national seminars, FDPs, workshops and conferences. She is a member of Board of Studies for M.Kumarasamy College of Engineering, Karur. Her research interests include medical imaging, big data technologies, software engineering, IoT and theory of computation. She did Industrial collaborative projects. She is reviewer of Imaging Science Journal and IEEE Women Computing Informatics. She is a department level coordinator for National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and ACM Student Chapter since 2015. She has organized workshops, FDPs and STTPs, Conferences around 19 in number as part of Quality Improvement Cell supported by TEQIP, ACM and funded by Science and Engineering Research Board (DST-SERB). She enhanced her teaching abilities and research skills by attending various workshops and hands-on trainings at IIT Roorkee, NITTTR Chandigarh, Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI), and CDAC Chennai. She is a professional member of ACM, ASDF, IACSI, QCFI, IAENG and ISTE.
