About
Dr. Tushar Kanti Das was born in Jagatballavpur, Howrah, West Bengal, India, and is an accomplished researcher with expertise in polymer science, nanotechnology, heterogeneous catalysis, and advanced functional materials. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Solid State Physics at the Silesian University of Technology, Poland. He completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry from Narasinha Dutt College, University of Calcutta, followed by a B.Tech. in Polymer Science and Technology from the University of Calcutta and an M.Tech. from the Rubber Technology Center, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. During his M.Tech., he was awarded a prestigious DAAD fellowship to conduct research at the Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden e.V., Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Manfred Stamm, where he worked on “Nanostructured Graphene Membranes for Catalytic and Environmental Remediation.” He subsequently completed his Ph.D. at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur under the supervision of Prof. Narayan Chandra Das, with research focused on “Fabrication of Heterogeneous Polymer Nanocomposites for Catalytic Applications.” His current research focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of polymer nanocomposites, polymer-stabilized catalytic nanoparticles, catalytic membranes, graphene-based materials, and conductive rubber composites, with particular emphasis on structure–property relationships and sustainable materials for catalytic and environmental applications. His work also encompasses rubber compounding, functional composites, and application-oriented nanostructured materials, offering strong potential for academic–industrial collaboration. With 65 research articles and 10 book chapters, and more than 4,300 Google Scholar citations (H-index 40; i10-index 61), his research aims to bridge fundamental scientific understanding with the development of high-performance, sustainable, scalable, and technologically relevant materials for catalysis, environmental remediation, energy, and advanced polymer engineering.
