About

Chaitanya Ashok Adhav is currently working as Research Associate at Agro-Economic Research Centre (AERC) (Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GOI), Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. He completed his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand and M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics at the ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal. He has also qualified ICAR-JRF, ICAR-SRF, ASRB-NET, UGC NET (Ph.D.).
During his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree program, his research interests were focused broadly on agricultural economics with a special emphasis on climate change impact assessment, vulnerability and resilience estimation, adaptation and mitigation strategies to climate change. He is a prominent researcher in agricultural economics with a focus on climate change resilience, food systems and agricultural market dynamics in India. His work has significantly contributed to understanding the socio-economic vulnerabilities of farm households, especially in the context of climate change, using advanced econometric techniques like index development, principal component analysis, trend analysis, timeseries analysis, regression analysis, etc. His research has also explored the far-reaching impacts of COVID-19 on India’s agricultural sector, delving into issues like commodity price volatility, consumer behavior shifts and the resilience of agricultural supply chains.
His collaborative research studies provide strategic insights into post-pandemic recovery, sustainable food waste management and resilience measures within the agricultural system, particularly for staple crops such as wheat. His interdisciplinary research extends to innovative areas like cellular agriculture, using bibliometric analysis to assess research trends and potential. His notable achievements include nationwide news articles as research outreach including Times of India, Hindustan Times, Indian Express, Hindu and media release reports in the ‘Simplifying Science’ Programme of the Climate Resilient Maharashtra by Climate Voices and his article citation in The Contrapuntal Magazine (international) on climate-induced challenges in agriculture.
