About
Dr. Amrita Singh, Ph.d., M.Pharm (Pharmacology) is working as Associate Professor in Department of Pharmacology at ISF College of Pharmacy, Moga, Punjab, India.
Research Interest:
I firmly believe that today’s health challenges can be addressed by collaborative perspectives with disappearing subject boundaries. Metabolic disorders like diabetes are inherently complex disorder and needs multidisciplinary research approach encompassing of biochemical, molecular and electrophysiological tools for the better understanding of the diabetic secondary complications including cataract and neurobiological impairments. Various neuro-chemical and signaling pathways involved in neuropathological conditions. As an researcher and a faculty, my interest is to establish a collaborative research program in diabetic investigation and its secondary complications focusing on eye related complications, behavioral and molecular neuroscience dedicated to understanding the various signaling pathways involved in eye diseases and neurodegenerative disorders so that better drug candidates can be developed by targeting the disrupted ocular and neuro-machinery.
Current background: I have been trained in different behavioral, biochemical and molecular biology techniques to study the signaling pathways involved in diabetes and its secondary complications like occular and neurodegenerative disorders. During my PhD in metabolic disorders, I was able to identify key signaling pathways involved in diabetes and associated cognitive deficits and diabetic cataract. My PhD research work was published in peer reviewed international journals such as Journal of biochemical and molecular toxicology, Current eye research, Journal of traditional and complementary medicines, Pharma nutrition & Journal of current ophthalmology and is being cited. Apart from this I also studied the role of AMPK/SIRT1, IP3/Ca2+ signaling and phosphodiesterases in diabetic associated neurodegeneration and cardiomyopathy which is currently a big clinical problem.
