About

Dr. Kundan Kumar (M’ 2013, SM’ 2021 IEEE USA) has completed his B. Tech. from the IET MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, in 2008. He has received the M. Tech. degree from NIT Jamshedpur, Jamshedpur, India, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Padova, Padova, Italy, both in Electrical Engineering, in 2010 and 2016, respectively. Prior to NIT Manipur, he has worked as an Assistant Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, deemed to be a university, in Bhubaneswar, India. Dr. Kumar received the Silver Medal for securing the first position during his M. Tech. course. He has also been awarded a university fellowship for a Ph. D. course at the University of Padova, Italy. He has also been awarded the Best Presentation Recognition award at IECON, held in Japan in 2015, and the Best Paper award in IEEE STPEC-2021 at Bilaspur, India. He has chaired and co-chaired the various Technical Sessions in the prestigious IEEE International Conferences, such as IECON, PEDES, ICPEE, GUCON, and SEFET. He has published more than 50 research articles in reputed International Journals and Conference Proceedings, 7 book chapters, and 5 Indian patents. He has supervised 02 Ph.D. scholars, and 04 are under spervision. He has published one edited book entitled “Electric Vehicle Propulsion Drives and Charging Systems,” in Taylor and Francis, CRC Press. Presently, he is editing a book entitled “Recent Advances and Emerging Technologies in Multi-Level Inverters,” which will be published in River Publishers. He has organized the IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics and Energy (ICPEE-2021) and International Conference on Science, Technology, and Engineering (ICSTE-2023) with the capacity of organizing secretary, as well as the 2nd IEEE International Conference on Industrial Electronics: Developments and Applications (ICIDeA-2023) with the capacity of Conference Chair. He has also organized the “2024 IEEE 1st International Conference on Green Industrial Electronics and Sustainable Technologies (GIEST-2024)” which was held at NIT Manipur from 25–26 Oct. 2024 with the capacity of Conference Chair. He is a senior member of the IEEE (USA) and a Life member of the Institution of Engineers (IE), India. He is the reviewer of IEEE journals and transactions such as TIE, TPEL, JESTPE, and various reputed conferences such as IECON, PEDES, INDICON, and PEMC. His research interests include Electric Vehicles and their charging infrastructures, Wireless Power Transfer Systems, Dynamic Wireless Charging Systems, Propulsion Drive Systems for EVs, Application of Wide Bandgap Semiconductor Devices (i.e. GaN & SiC), High-Efficiency Power Converters, Soft Switching, Multi-port Converters, Single-Active Bridge (SAB), Dual Active Bridge (DAB) Converters, and Offshore Wind Energy System.
