About

Dr. Manojit Chowdhury is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Palli Siksha Bhavana (Institute of Agriculture), Visva-Bharati, India. He holds a Ph.D. in Farm Machinery and Power Engineering from ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi and M.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. His research interests include precision agriculture, variable-rate technology, artificial intelligence, electronics in agriculture, smart instrumentation, and resource-conserving agricultural technologies. He has published over 70 research papers, review papers, book chapters and popular articles in national and international publications. He has also served as an editor for two edited book volumes published with leading international publishers such as CRC Press and American Chemical Society, USA. Dr. Chowdhury currently serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Agricultural Engineering (India), Lead Guest Editor for Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, and Guest Editor for Springer Discover Applied Sciences. His intellectual property portfolio includes one utility patent published, one registered design, and three registered copyrights. He has also successfully commercialized a technology developed through his research. His academic contributions have been recognized through several prestigious honours, including the FAI Award for Outstanding Doctoral Research in Fertilizer Usage (2025), ISAE Best Ph.D. Thesis Award (2025), IAUA Outstanding Ph.D. Thesis Research Award (2025), Dr. K. N. Synghal Memorial Gold Medal (2025), and the Young Researcher Award (2023). He was selected as one of the only four worldwide finalists for the prestigious Giuseppe Pellizzi Prize 2026, an international award recognizing outstanding contributions in agricultural machinery and mechanization, in Italy. His multidisciplinary research focuses on developing smart and sustainable solutions for agriculture.
