Dr. Mrutyunjay Jena has completed his graduation (B.Sc.) in Botany (Hons.) from Dina Krushna College, Fakir Mohan University, 2000, post-graduate, 2003, and Ph.D. in Botany from Utkal University, 2009. Dr. Jena has been conferred with a DAAD Fellowship by the German Academic Exchange Service in 2008, a postdoctoral fellowship by IARI in New Delhi in 2010, and a DS-Kothari postdoctoral fellowship by the UGC, Govt. of India in 2011. He joined the P.G. Department of Botany in August 2011 as Assistant Professor. Presently, he is working as an Associate Professor in the Post Graduate Department of Botany at Berhampur University. His principal research interests are the biodiversity of algae and algal biotechnology. He has completed three major research projects funded by the Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project (OFSDP), Bhubaneswar, Govt. of Odisha, the Science and Technology Dept., Govt. of Odisha, and the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change, Govt. of India. Presently, three major research projects are ongoing and funded by the Collaborative Research Project, Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of Odisha; the Science and Technology Department, Govt. of Odisha; and SERB-SURE, DST, Govt. of India. He has guided six Ph.D. students; 16 M.Phil. students and 41 M.Sc. students completed their dissertations under his guidance. Presently, four Ph.D. students are continuing their Ph.D. degrees under his guidance. Dr. Jena has published more than 75 research papers in internationally reputed peer-reviewed and impact journals, five chapters in edited books, and authored one book. He has attended more than 50 national and international seminars in India and abroad and delivered lectures on his research work. He has organized 5 workshops and 5 conferences at Berhampur University. Dr. Jena is an honorary reviewer of many scientific journals, and he has reviewed more than 100 scientific articles in internationally reputed high-impact journals.
