About
Isak R. Shaikh is an independent researcher with interdisciplinary scientific training in chemistry, STEM education, sustainability, and atomic-scale modeling. He received his early higher education at Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada (SRTM) University, India, and has teaching experience in chemistry at the higher secondary level. After completing his M.Sc., he lectured in chemistry for undergraduate B.Sc. programs at A.C.S. College, Sillod, affiliated with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, India.
He gained research experience at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, followed by a short-term research assistantship at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. He pursued doctoral research in chemistry at Inha University, Republic of Korea, supported by competitive fellowships and national research funding, completing all doctoral coursework and research requirements with strong academic performance. He later completed the then 1-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Programme AtoSim, with coursework at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and a master’s thesis at the École normale supérieure (ENS) de Lyon, France.
Dr. Shaikh held a full-time-equivalent research staff position associated with Lucite International UK Ltd., based at the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, contributing to industrially relevant research in process chemistry, including methyl methacrylate and Fischer–Tropsch processes. He subsequently completed doctoral studies at Poona College, Pune, India.
He is the founder of the Razak Institution of Skills, Education and Research (RISER www.razaaq.se), established to promote research capacity building, lifelong learning, sustainable community-oriented education, and access to knowledge. He has published over 25 peer-reviewed research articles, authored four scholarly books, and contributed book chapters. His research interests include sustainability, catalysis, nanomaterials, environmental and green chemistry, agriculture, and atomic-scale modeling. Selected research outcomes remain unpublished due to intellectual property considerations.
He has served as President and Rector of RISER, convenor of the Indian/International Conference on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Sustainability (IC-STEMS), and Executive Editor of the Proceedings of IC-STEMS (2014–2017). He acts as a peer reviewer for several international journals, including Journal of Porous Materials, Catalysts, Scanning, Journal of Chemistry, and ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering. His honors include the EU Fellowship, Jeongseok and BK21 Fellowships (South Korea), MANF India, and an offer of
the PM fellowship & an honorary doctorate from Newport University.
