About

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, Biologische Anstalt Helgoland, Germany. As a trained plankton ecologist, I use the Helgoland Roads time series (one of the world's longest marine Long-Term Ecological Research datasets) to investigate long-term trends in phytoplankton size distribution and their environmental drivers around the German island of Helgoland in the North Sea. My research aims to comprehensively assess changes associated with both global changes and localized short-term events. Upon completion of the current research objectives, I expect to contribute to a better understanding of the bottom-up and top-down controls on phytoplankton size dynamics in a rapidly changing North Sea ecosystem. This work will also help improve our understanding of food web functioning in similar marine ecosystems.
