About
Firoz Ahmad is working as CIFOR-ICRAF Associate, Geoinformatics, Asia Continental Program. He has won the eGovernance National Award 2020 by Government of India for significant contribution to the Project entitled ‘eForestFire- Himalayan Forest Fire Prediction’ for Arunachal Pradesh. https://static.pib.gov.in/WriteReadData/userfiles/National%20eGovernance%20Awardees%202020.pdf
He is selected among top 10 most productive authors in climate change and agriculture research in India in the year 2024 (Baraj et al., 2024). https://doi.org/10.1016/j.heliyon.2024.e29586
He has extensively traveled in various forests of India. His interests are forest mapping, agroforestry mapping, forest fire, and climate interaction, wildlife suitability, urban planning, urban forestry, and watershed monitoring. The idea of modeling land potential towards agroforestry purposes in a GIS environment has been a brainchild of Firoz Ahmad. http://landscapeportal.org/layers/geonode%3Apotential_datasets_for_agroforestry_of_south_asia_mask_protected_area1#more
Furthermore, his objective is to utilizing geospatial technology to address various research gaps for achieving a broader spectrum of Sustainable Development Goals linked to poverty mitigation, livelihood initiation, environmental safeguarding, biodiversity conservation and transformation to climate change.
