Dr. Shazia Anjum is one of the young emerging scientists of Pakistan with 85 international publications in leading scientific journals. She has throughout 1st class and 1st position in the academic career. Dr. Anjum obtained her Ph.D. degree in 2001 HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi; she has over 3 years of teaching experience in Medicinal Chemistry/Natural Product Chemistry as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Anjum has two years of Research Associate experience working at University of Saskatchewan, Canada- where she has accomplished the synthesis of several naturally occurring aminoglycosides- it has activity against S. aureus and K. pneumonia. She has also 2 years Medicinal Chemist experience working in a Canam Bioresearch, a biotech company in Canada and, she has one year experience of working as a Senior Scientific Officer in a government based industry in Pakistan. She is presently the Director of Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. The research of her interest revolves mainly around Medicinal Chemistry/Natural Product Chemistry. In year 2002 she won one-year postdoctoral scholarship from Ministry of Education and Culture, Spain, as a result of one-year research she was able to evaluate a new pathway for the synthesis of bicyclic cycloproanone. She has number of international and national awards to her credit.
