About

I earned a Ph.D. in Archaeology in the Anthropology Department at Harvard University in May 2023. My research involves the use of geospatial techniques in the study of people's movement across foreign landscapes and the identification of commercial routes connecting Egypt to eastern Sudan, called Punt by the ancient Egyptians. My dissertation provides a preliminary predictive model of movement across the desert and navigation along the Red Sea coast based on geomorphology, climate, ancient texts, and historical information. Said model has the potential to identify areas of archaeological interest contributing to monitoring illegal activities which are increasing in these two countries.
My research interests focus on the understanding of the relationship between people and landscapes, examining people’s migrations across land and sea. I have deep knowledge of geospatial techniques, including remote sensing, GIS, network analyses, modeling, photogrammetry, structure from motion, and UAV, which I extensively applied to my research. A few years ago I became interested in Archaeogaming, particularly in recording evidence of human activities in digital spaces.

My interests focus on Archaeology, Egypt, field archaeology, field survey, Computer graphics, videogames, 3D and virtual reconstruction, CAD and data visualization, landscape archaeology; GIS, photogrammetry, web design, videogames, AR/VR, underwater archaeology.
