About
Prof. (Dr.) A. Sakthivel is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Central University of Kerala. He earned his Ph.D. in Heterogeneous Catalysis from the IIT-Bombay, India. He pursued six years of postdoctoral research at renowned international institutes, including the IAMS-Academia Sinica, Taiwan (2002–2003); the TUM, Munich and the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society, Berlin, Germany (2004–2006); and Gifu University, Japan (2006–2008). He was awarded both the Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowships. In 2008, he returned to India and joined Reliance Industries Limited, R&D, as a scientist. He was appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Delhi in 2010, subsequently moving to the Central University of Kerala as an Associate Professor in January 2016, and was promoted to Professor in January 2019.
To date, Prof. Sakthivel has published 151 research articles in peer-reviewed international journals, 1 book, 2 internal reports, 8 book chapters, and 5 patents. His research primarily focuses on the development of heterogeneous catalysts for biomass, CO2 conversion to fuel additives, and fine chemical processes. He has supervised 11 Ph.D. scholars and 1 M.Tech. student and has successfully handled nine major research projects (funded by ANRF, DST, CSIR, and UGC) along with several minor projects.
