About

Dipankar Ghosh currently serves as a Senior Research Specialist at 3M Company, based in Minnesota, USA, where he has been employed since 2006.

In his current role, he is instrumental in various global, cross-functional initiatives aimed at developing innovative and commercially viable technologies and products. His work encompasses the Energy sector, including Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Sensors, and High Voltage technology, as well as the Electronics field, which features advancements in 5G and millimeter-wave technology, Auto Electrification, and Electroactive composites. Over the years, his efforts have resulted in the creation of multiple Horizon 3 commercial products for 3M.


Till date, Dipankar has been awarded 30 US patents, with 15 of those as the lead inventor. He also holds 59 international granted patents across various countries, including Germany, UK, Japan, China, and India. His scholarly output includes 21 publications, with 9 stemming from his research at 3M, featured in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He is recognized as a Senior Member of IEEE.

On the academic front, Dipankar earned his B.Tech. (Hons.) in metallurgical and materials engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kharagpur, India. He further advanced his studies with an M.S. in materials science and engineering from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, followed by a Ph.D. in the same field from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
