About

I joined Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, as a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Amrita School of Physical Sciences, on July 1, 2022. Prior to joining Amrita, I served as the Registrar at the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), an Institute of National Importance under the Government of India, Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram, for one and a half years. Before that, I worked for 30 years at SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur, where I served as the Associate Dean – Research.

During my tenure at SASTRA, I handled a wide range of Engineering Mathematics courses, Machine Learning, and several computer science courses, including Computer Graphics, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Theory of Computation. I have guided 15 Ph.D. scholars in areas such as machine-learning-based disease identification, software testing, and multi-criteria decision-making frameworks.

I currently serve as an Associate Editor for a SCOPUS-indexed international journal published by Springer and as a reviewer for more than 25 SCI/SCIE-indexed journals, including IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on Big Data, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Applied Soft Computing, Neural Networks and Applications, among others.

I completed my undergraduate studies in Mathematics at the University of Madras, followed by my postgraduate degree and M.Phil. in Mathematics at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. I later earned an M.C.A. in Computer Applications from Bharathidasan University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu.

I have published more than 250 research articles, including over 200 SCOPUS-indexed papers and more than 100 publications in SCI/SCIE/ABDC-indexed journals, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 440 and an average impact factor above 4.25 for SCI/SCIE/ABDC-indexed works. Many of these publications are in collaboration with leading international scientists affiliated with top 200 globally ranked institutions and researchers listed among the world’s top 2% scientists. My contributions have placed me among the distinguished researchers and authors in the field of Multi-Criteria Decision Making. After joining Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, I have published more than 65 SCOPUS-indexed papers, over 90% of which are in Q1 journals.

I have successfully completed two funded research projects as Principal Investigator: one from BRNS, Mumbai (₹24.4 lakhs), and another from DRDO, New Delhi (₹53.4 lakhs). Additionally, I served as Co-PI for an ICT-enabled pedagogy project on “Operations Research,” funded by MHRD. As Associate Dean of ICT, I facilitated FIST funding (₹52 lakhs) for the Department of Information and Communication Technology to establish a cloud computing setup. Currently, I am engaged in collaborative research with senior professors from the Department of Civil Engineering, Institute of Sustainable Construction, Laboratory of Smart Building Systems, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Vilnius, Lithuania, and this collaboration has resulted in a substantial number of Q1 research publications.

I also completed the three-week MHRD-funded LEAP (Leadership for Academicians Programme), comprising two weeks of training at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, and one week at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
