About
Dr. Jayanta Ghosh is presently holding a position as Head and Research Fellow at the Centre for Regulatory Studies, Governance and Public Policy, The W.B National University of Juridical Sciences, India. During the tenure at WBNUJS completed three project and applied for funding more than 10 project to the Govt. and other organisation. And presently another 3 project is on-going. One of the upcoming collaborative project is with University of Cambridge on “Intellectual Property and Sustainability”. For community service, Dr. Ghosh has facilitated to filed 8 (eight) Geographical Indication. Also extended work to be a member of NAAC team of WBNUJS.
He is also visiting faculty to teach Introduction of Intellectual Property Law to the Department of Law, Sister Nivedita University, New Town, Kolkata, India. And Visiting Faculty to teach Cyber Law and Intellectual Property Law to the engineering students in the Electronics and Communication Department, Techno Main Salt Lake, Kolkata, India. Previously Worked as an Assistant Professor at the Amity Law School, Amity University Kolkata, India, teaching Intellectual Property Laws to UG & PG (copyright, IPR in Pharma Industry, Trademark and Design, Biodiversity Law & Introduction to Intellectual Property).
Alumnus of Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India, where he was conferred with a doctorate in law on “Right to Privacy and Data Protection in Digital India: Legislative Paradigm” as an Institute Scholar funded by Ministry of Human Resource Development under the guidance of Dr. Uday Shankar.
Dr. Ghosh specialized in Intellectual Property Law, Law and Technology, Information Privacy, Data Protection and Data Security Laws.
He was awarded the most prestigious fellowships, like DAAD Fellowship and Indo-Canadian Shastri Institute Fellowship.
Received fellowship award with Grant Amount of 10000 CAD (approx.) from “Indo-Canadian Shastri Scholarship” to work on project titled “Canadian Privacy and Data Protection Laws: An Exploration” at Centre for Law, Technology and Society, Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa, Canada under Supervision of Late Prof. Dr. Ian Kerr, Canada Chair Ethics, Law & Technology.
Received Grant Seed Amount of 3550 Euro and Successfully completed on project titled “European Data Protection Laws” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Forgo, at Institute for Legal Informatics, Leibniz University Hannover, Germany, from 1st April 2017 to 30th June 2017 with Scholarship of DAAD and BMBF.
Partial Scholarship awarded by Max Planck Institute for innovation and Competition to attend “World Youth Forum on Ethics in Innovation 2017” and “Conference Series on Ethics in Innovation 4.0” from 23rd June to 27th June 2017 at Max Planck Institute for innovation and Competition, Munich.
Achieved Scholarship jointly funded amount 1400 Euro by DAAD Organisation and Leibniz University Hannover, Germany for attending “International Summer School in IT Law (INSITU 2016)” at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany, from 25th July to 19th August 2016 and successfully accomplished 10 ECTS credit.
Dr. Ghosh is the founder of The IPThink-Tank, to facilitate and spread awareness of Intellectual Property Law for society.
He is an academic committee member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) committee. Holds a membership of ‘Data Security Council of India, Kolkata Chapter, and the editorial board member of four journals.
Dr. Ghosh has also authored one books, Seven book chapters, and more than 25 research papers on several contemporary issues relating to Information Technology, Intellectual Property, Data Security, Public Law, and Policy published by international and national repute journals like Springer Nature, Scopus, UGC CARE etc. He has presented more than 20 research papers in several international and national conferences, Seminars & has conducted several seminars and workshops on contemporary issues. He is also acted as a resource person in more that 20 invitation in different capacity.
