I am Dr. Nisheet Patel, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Smt. B. K. Shah Medical Institute & Research Centre, Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, Vadodara, Gujarat. With over a decade of experience in academic psychiatry, clinical practice, and research, I have been privileged to contribute to the evolving landscape of mental health care and education in India.

My academic and research interests span across a wide spectrum of psychiatric disciplines. I have focused extensively on cognitive dysfunction in psychiatric illnesses, psychopharmacology, global mental health systems, and the psychological impact of sociocultural factors such as body image and self-esteem in young adults. I have had the opportunity to present my research at various academic platforms and contribute to peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals.

As a teacher and mentor, I actively guide postgraduate students in their MD theses and foster a research-oriented mindset among trainees. I am committed to integrating evidence-based clinical practice with academic psychiatry and continuously strive to bridge the gap between research and real-world mental health challenges.

My aim has always been to advance not just clinical knowledge, but also systemic understanding of mental health policies, accessibility, and psychosocial rehabilitation—especially in low- and middle-income settings like ours. I look forward to continued collaboration, innovation, and advocacy in the field of psychiatry.
