Lukas Prantl, Prof. M.D., Ph.D., MHBA is an internationally known plastic surgeon. He is Professor and Chairman of the Center of Plastic and Aesthetic, Hand- and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Regensburg, Medical Center.
He received his medical degree from the University of Innsbruck (Austria) and Bologna (Italy), graduating with high honors. After specialisation in General Surgery, Plastic surgery and Hand Surgery at the Technical University of Munich and at the University of Regensburg, he did further training in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at different famous Universities over the world. He is president of the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (DGPRÄC) and president of the German Society for Clinical Microcirculation and Hemorheology (DGKMH) and active member of many other societies.
Dr. Prantl has been the recipient of different prestigious national and international research awards and has been Chair and faculty member of numerous national and international conferences. As an innovative surgeon and scientist he has published more than 300 peer review articles and 30 book chapters. He is a visiting Professor at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Stanford University, California, FUDAN University, Shanghai and RUDN University in Moscow. He is founder of the Stem Cell research center and a member of the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell team. He is also head of the soft tissue sarcoma surgery department at the University of Regensburg. In recent year he focused on the harvesting of stem cells from adipose tissue (ASCs) and the clinical application for tissue regeneration.
