About
Dr.Rathimala Kannan is an Associate Professor, in Department of Information Technology, at Faculty of Management at Multimedia University in Malaysia. She has received her B.Sc. (Applied Sciences-Computer Technology) and M.C.A (Master of Computer Applications) from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, India. She received her PhD from Multimedia University, Malaysia. Her PhD research was in web structure mining and titled as Characterization of E-Commerce Website structures using Webometrics and Social network analysis methods. Her research interest includes Business Data Analytics, Applications of AI & Machine learning, Data mining for business intelligence, and Information Systems. She has been an academician and researcher for over nineteen years and was involved actively in teaching, supervision, research, development of new curriculam & Courses and consultancy. She has published in many indexed top tier journals such as Journal of Big Data, IEEE ACCESS and F1000research to name a few.
Dr Rathimala looks into the learning needs of the clients and designs customized training courses in business data analytics using machine learning which ranges from one-day introductory course to 2 days hands-on training using popular open source data analytics software. This enables the participants to continue learning and practicing the data analytical skills and leverage machine learning techniques to get insights from their company data. This training is especially relevant to those who would like to develop business data analytical skills to get data insights to make informed decision.
Dr Rathimala has conducted many corporate trainings in business data analytics and special workshop on data analytics using machine learning techniques in the IEEE Humanitarian Technology conference and online joint class with Telkom University, Indonesia on the topics; Advanced machine learning applications and Artificial Intelligence in Business. She is a Malaysian Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) certified trainer who is engaged in training, consulting and university-industry collaborative projects. She is a senior member in IEEE and IEEE Malaysia consultants network affinity group and a professional technologist in Malaysian Board of Technologist (MBOT).
