Dr. Sengupta is Associate Dean of Accreditation and Technology Systems, and Professor of Information Systems and Business Analytics at Florida International University College of Business. He received his MS and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Indiana University, Bloomington, and his B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Prior to joining FIU, Dr. Sengupta served on the faculty at the Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University, Kelly School of Business at Indiana University, and the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.

Dr. Sengupta's research interests include technology adoption in organizations (particularly RFID, blockchain, and mobile technologies), improving student assessment and engagement, data analytics, databases, data modeling, query languages, data mining, and human-computer interaction. He has published over 20 refereed scholarly articles in leading journals, presented his work in many conferences and workshops, as well as authored several book chapters.

His research papers have appeared in leading journals such as Journal of the AIS, Communications of the AIS, Journal of Database Management, Australian Journal of Information Systems, Journal of the American Society of Information Science and Technology, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, and Information Technology and Management.

Dr. Sengupta created and launched funded research centers and labs for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and Data Analytics at Wright State University. He also founded SmartRF Solutions, a startup commercializing SmartParkRF, an application of Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) technology. To support AACSB accreditation of the college, Professor Sengupta developed AMP (Assess My Program) - the system that the Raj Soin College of Business still uses for its Assurance of Learning process. He also developed Passport to Success – a mobile application and environment for promoting student engagement and retention at the Raj Soin College of Business. Previously, Dr. Sengupta served as honorary Chief Technology Officer of TagMaster North America, and the director and coordinator of placement services at the Decision Sciences Institute for over 10 years. Dr. Sengupta holds memberships in the Association for Information Systems and is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and served as the chapter advisor for the Wright State chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma.
