About
Dr. Gondru Ramesh is a Scientist-C in the Food Chemistry Division at ICMR–National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), where he has been serving since January 2023. His research focuses on the comprehensive nutritional, antinutritional, and phytochemical evaluation of exotic and underutilized non-timber food products (NTFPs), including wild fruits and underutilized green leafy vegetables (UGLVs). He is particularly interested in exploring the nutraceutical potential of wild edible plants and isolating bioactive natural products from them.
He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal in 2018 under the supervision of Prof. B. Rajitha (Late), with a thesis titled Design, Synthesis, and Biological Evaluation of New Heterocyclic Hybrids. His doctoral research involved the synthesis of novel heterocyclic hybrids for medicinal chemistry applications and the development of green synthetic protocols for small bioactive molecules.
Before joining NIN, he worked as Scientist-B at ICMR–National Institute for Research in Environmental Health (NIREH), where he specialized in the synthesis of Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for the adsorptive removal of aromatic volatile organic compounds (VOCs). He also served as a part-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Kakatiya University.
Dr. Ramesh is recognized as a Ph.D. guide in Chemistry by Osmania University and has also been recognized as an Assistant Professor and Ph.D. guide by the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). He is an active member of professional bodies including the American Chemical Society (ACS), the Nutritional Society of India (NSI), and the Indian Council of Chemists (ICC).
