Dr. Maulana M. Ansari, a student (Para U) of the renowned surgeon Prof. Tara Chandra at G.S.V.M. Medical College, Kanpur, joined Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh in 1986. Dr. Ansari is an excellent surgeon with an ability to perform every operation as a live demonstration coupled with a running commentary to teach the students, and presently doing research on live surgical anatomy during laparoscopic inguinal hernioplasty (total extra-peritoneal). He received training in laparoscopic surgery in 1998 at MAMC, New Delhi. Dr. Ansari established several Laparoscopic Operations at JNMC Hospital, including the Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in 1998, the Laparoscopic Incisional Hernioplasty and Laparoscopic Pyeloplasty in 2008, the Laparoscopic Inguinal hernioplasty (TEP & TAP) in 2012, and the Subfascial Endoscopic Perforator Surgery (SEPS) in 2014. He has started doing Laparoscopic Colectomy recently. His current thrust area includes Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery with special emphasis on video-recording for teaching purpose.
Dr. Ansari has published 1 book (Management of Trauma) and 144 research papers. He has organized as Treasurer 2 conferences (Trauma Update-2013 and UPASICON-2014) and actively participated in 53 Conferences. He has 69 working papers to his credit and supervised 27 MS/MD Thesis. He coined 09 new medical terms, described 31 rare lesions/conditions and successfully used 10 atypical treatments. Some reputed journals in which his articles have been published include Australian New Zealand Journal of Surgery, Annals of Tropical Paediatrics, Vascular Surgery (USA), Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica, Pakistan Journal of Otolaryngology, Kuwait Medical journal, Saudi Journal of Gastroenterology, Arab Journal of Gastroenterology, Indian Journal of Medical Research (ICMR), Saudi Surgical Journal, etc. Dr. Ansari is Examiner/Expert for MBBS Examination & MS (Surgery) Thesis/Examination of several Universities.
Dr. Ansari was awarded the degree of PhD (Surgery) for year 2016 for self-supplication as Teacher Candidate with the doctoral research titled - “A Study of Laparoscopic Surgical Anatomy of Infraumbilical Posterior Rectus Sheath, Fascia Transversalis & Pre-Peritoneal Fat/Fascia during TEPP Mesh Hernioplasty for Inguinal Hernia”
Dr. Ansari retired at the age of 65 years on September 30, 2016 from the active government service of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, and is now working in the private sector.
