About
Dr. Anirban Goutam Mukherjee earned his Ph.D. from the School of Biosciences and Technology (SBST), Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), one of India’s top universities, with a specialization in Toxicology and Cancer Biology. His doctoral research focused on elucidating the impact of heavy metals and metalloids on male reproductive health, with particular emphasis on their role in infertility and prostate cancer. Through this work, he provided critical insights into the mechanistic pathways underlying reproductive toxicity and demonstrated how environmental toxicants influence disease onset and progression. His academic journey is marked by consistent excellence from the very beginning. At CDS School, Nagpur, he distinguished himself as the city and zonal topper in both the ICSE and ISC examinations. During this period, he received numerous academic and extracurricular awards, representing his school in several competitions and consistently securing top positions. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj (RTM) Nagpur University, where he secured first merit in Bio Sciences and fifth overall in the B.Sc. program. In recognition of his exceptional academic achievements, he was conferred the University’s Best Student Award from RTM Nagpur University and the Best Outgoing Student Award from D.R.B. Sindhu Mahavidyalaya. He also actively represented RTM Nagpur University and D.R.B. Sindhu Mahavidyalaya in multiple state- and university-level events, including Avishkar-2018, and achieved distinction in over 50 competitions by winning Best Speaker Awards across debate, elocution, and seminar platforms. Continuing his postgraduate studies at VIT, he once again demonstrated academic excellence by securing the first rank in the university and receiving the prestigious Chancellor’s Gold Medal for outstanding performance. In addition, he was honoured with the M/s. J.K. Pattabirama Chettiyar Family Trust Endowment Award (2020-2021) for academic excellence, and he was a recipient of the Merit Scholarship from VIT in consecutive years (2019-2020 and 2020-2021).
Dr. Anirban has established himself as a prolific researcher, with over 65 publications in internationally reputed journals indexed in SCI, SCIE, and Scopus. His name was recently featured in Stanford University’s list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists, a recognition that underscores his global research impact. His scientific contributions have been further acknowledged through several awards, including the Raman Research Award and the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award from VIT. He has also been selected to participate in prestigious programs such as the SERB-sponsored Karyashala High-End Workshop (2024) at the Central University of Punjab and the Sakura Science Exchange Program at the University of Miyazaki, Japan, which provided him with opportunities to engage with leading international researchers and enrich his scientific perspectives. In addition to his research achievements, Dr. Anirban actively contributes to the global scientific community through editorial and reviewing responsibilities. He serves as an Editorial Board Member for the Discover Oncology journal and an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE and acts as an invited reviewer for several international publishers, including Elsevier, MDPI, and Springer Nature, where he evaluates manuscripts in the fields of toxicology, cancer biology, and reproductive health. These roles highlight his academic credibility and commitment to maintaining the integrity and quality of scientific publishing.
Complementing his academic and research endeavors, Dr. Anirban has pursued advanced certifications and specialized training programs from globally renowned institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, Rice University, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the University of Michigan, among many others. These programs have significantly broadened his academic horizon and strengthened his expertise in diverse areas of life sciences and translational research. With a strong foundation in toxicology, reproductive biology, and cancer research, Dr. Anirban remains committed to advancing impactful, interdisciplinary, and collaborative scientific investigations. His long-term vision is to contribute to a deeper understanding of male reproductive health and cancer biology, with the ultimate goal of supporting the development of improved diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic strategies that address pressing challenges in human health. He humbly expresses his heartfelt gratitude to the Almighty, his parents, and all his teachers and mentors, whose unwavering guidance, encouragement, and blessings have been instrumental in shaping his academic and professional journey.
