About

Dr. S. Sriram has been associated with research work on plant disease resistance and biological control specifically in horticultural crops. He has been associated with the Phytophthora blight-resistant Colocasia variety Muktakeshi (CVRC) and multiple disease-resistant tomato hybrids (Arka Abhed, Arka Apeksha, Arka Vishesh). He contributed for 5 marigold, 1 China aster and 1 Guava varieties that have been notified CVRC, alongside identifying resistant lines of bitter gourd, cucumber, chillies, watermelon, gladiolus, and rose. He pioneered a novel invert emulsion formulation of Trichoderma, securing a patent. His salinity- and carbendazim-tolerant Trichoderma formulations have been commercialized and earned him the NRDC Innovation Award. He clarified the presence of Trichoderma asperellum in India, a well-recognized contribution. Dr. Sriram guided 7 Ph.D. and 3 M.Sc. students, earning the Best Teacher Award at ICAR-IIHR in 2020. Currently is the Discipline Coordinator for Plant Pathology at ICAR-IIHR for the IAR-PG programme. As Editor-in-Chief, he enabled the rise of NAAS rating of the Journal of Horticultural Sciences from 3.47 to 6.1.
