As Founder Professor I Director, School of Earth Sciences & Centre for Remote Sensing conceived and executed unique programmes at M. Tech. level in Geological Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics and M.Sc. in Geoinformatics (under UGC innovative programme) and
Established the Centre of Excellence in Remote Sensing exclusively through funded projects brought to the tune of over Rs 25 crore.
SPECIALISATIONS:
Remote Sensing and GIS-based modeling and visualization of Palaeo -Time transgressive - Active Geological Systems and Processes for
Mineral, Hydrocarbon, and Water Resources exploration
Earth Ecosystem modeling in hill, plain, riverine, coastal & aeolian systems
Natural Disasters mapping, mitigation, and management
Sunken and lost ancient cities/civilizations and
Spatial Decision Support Systems for sustainable development.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT:
Guided over 18 Ph.D. and 40 M. Tech. in Geological Remote Sensing & GIS.
Conceived and executed over 25 major funded research projects in the above
areas of specialization, budgeting to the tune of Indian rupees(35 crores) 3500
lakhs, sponsored by various National and International agencies and brought
out packages of newer information in the field of Earth resources, Geological /
Geomorphological processes, Geological Eco-systems, Natural disasters, etc., for
Indian Peninsula in general and South India in particular.
