About

Dr. Indrajit Banerjee is currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and serves as Chair of the Research Unit and Chair of the Institutional Research and Ethics Committee at SSR Medical College, Mauritius. With a deep passion for teaching, he has been actively involved in the teaching and learning process of Pharmacology since 2008, accumulating over 17 years of academic experience. His commitment to medical education is reflected in his dynamic teaching style and active engagement with students, both inside and outside the classroom.
Beyond his academic career, Dr. Banerjee is a multifaceted individual with diverse interests. He is an avid photographer, enthusiastic trekker, and trained musician specializing in the sarod, a classical Indian string instrument. These pursuits complement his scientific work, reflecting a well-rounded personality and a creative approach to life and learning.
Dr. Banerjee's research interests are wide-ranging and include Clinical Pharmacology, Psychopharmacology, Drug Utilization Studies, Self-Medication Practices, Sports Medicine, Diabetes, Medical Education, Cancer, COVID-19, Qualitative Research, Systematic Reviews, Meta-Analyses, and Narrative Reviews. He has contributed significantly to scientific literature, with 194 research articles published in various international peer-reviewed journals. He has also presented more than 150 papers at national and international conferences.
In addition to his scholarly achievements, Dr. Banerjee has recently played a pivotal role as the Organizing Secretary of four international conferences held at SSR Medical College. His leadership and organizational skills have further enhanced the institution’s academic profile on the global stage. His current academic work increasingly emphasizes evidence-based medicine, research methodology, scientific writing, medical education and capacity building, reflecting his broader commitment to strengthening the culture of research and scholarship in medical education.
