About

I am working in the area of sericulture, insect ecology, behavior, and management of insect pests and weeds. I have made significant contributions to sericulture, pest management, and biological control. I have explored alternative host plants for Eri silkworms, establishing banyan as an alternative host plant, which has the potential to increase Eri silkworm production in various regions. I have also recorded a new distribution of the tasar silkworm, Antheraea mylitta, from Salakati, Kokrajhar district, Assam, contributing valuable data on this species' geographical range. In collaboration with CSIR-NCL, Pune, I discovered a new endoparasitoid, Exorista deligata, against the major tea pest Hyposidra talaca, a significant advancement in sustainable tea pest management. Currently, I am working on silkworm stress physiology, exploring how environmental factors affect the biology and productivity of silkworms, aiming to identify biochemical pathways that influence stress resilience, which could improve silkworm rearing practices and silk production.
