About
I am a dual-trained medical and veterinary microbiologist with over two decades of experience in research, teaching, and academic leadership. I am passionate about bridging human and animal health through impactful microbiology research while mentoring the next generation to tackle fungal infections and antimicrobial resistance using a One Health approach. My background uniquely positions me to lead research at the human–animal interface, particularly in zoonotic infections and mycology. I have supervised numerous postgraduate students and contributed significantly to fungal diagnostics, antifungal resistance profiling, and national AMR strategies and surveillance. I also serve as a lead reviewer for the Nigerian AMR Strategy on terrestrial animals under the Fleming Fund and am an Erasmus award recipient. My international research collaborations and visits have enriched my expertise in infectious disease epidemiology, particularly of zoonotic origin.
