About
Dr. Raman Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, Punjab, India. He has completed his B. Tech. (Mechanical Engineering), M. Tech. (Production Engineering) and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. He has five years of industry experience and 20 years of experience in teaching and research.
His research interests and expertise focus on advanced manufacturing technologies, sustainable machining, optimization techniques, and hybrid renewable energy systems across various materials and processes. He emphasizes the integration of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize machining parameters, enhance material properties, and improve efficiency in both industrial and biomedical applications. His research encompasses additive manufacturing, composite materials, and nanotechnology, utilizing experimental and modeling approaches, including MCDM, RSM, ML, AI, and bibliometric analysis. His expertise extends into renewable energy systems and Industry 4.0, with particular interest in improving energy efficiency, sustainability, and automation within smart manufacturing and industrial contexts. He has taught at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Strength of Materials, Machining Sciences, Manufacturing Processes, Operations Research, Industrial Automation and Robotics, etc.
He has published more than 150 research papers in national and international conferences and reputable journals. He was listed in the Stanford World list of the top 2% of Scientists of 2022, 2023, and 2024, published by Elsevier. Additionally, he serves as an Editor of Scientific Reports, Associate Editor of the Journal of Sustainable Energy, and Associate Editor of Frontiers in Psychology, Frontiers in Public Health, Frontiers in Climate, and Frontiers in Rehabilitation Sciences. He serves as a reviewer of the Journal of Cleaner Production, Sustainable Cities and Society (Elsevier), International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing-Green Technology (Springer), Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, Sustainability, Applied Sciences, Energies, Materials (MDPI), IEEE Sensor Journal, Frontiers, etc.
He is a life member of ISTE and SAE India and has received the ISTE Best Teacher Award-2021 (Section) and Faculty Excellence Award 2023 from the Alumni Association of GNDEC. He also received the Best Paper Award at the International Conference and has participated in various faculty development programs, conferences, and expert lectures.
