About
I was born and brought up in the western part of Medinipur (Jhargram), West Bengal, India. I received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Botany at the University of Vidyasagar and Kalyani in 1996 and 1998 respectively. I have got my M.Tech. degree in Applied Botany from the Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering, IIT-Kharagpur in 2000. I was in The Bose Institute in the period of 2000-2003 as a JRF and SRF with Prof. K. K. Mukherjee in the Cytogenetics Laboratory, Department of Botany. My Ph.D. degree was awarded from Jadavpur University, in 2007. Understanding the molecular mechanisms behind inflorescence development and flowering is the research area that continues interest to me. I was hired as a Lecturer in 2003 at the Department of Biotechnology, Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia. I escalated to my position as the Head and Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology, and served there till May, 2021. I worked as the Controller of Examinations of Vidyasagar University till December 21, 2021. Presently, I am working as the Principal of Subarnarekha Mahavidyalaya (Govt. Aided College), Gopiballavpur, Jhargram, India.
My present research interests include:
(a) Development and validation of Plant-based potential anti-cancerous lead molecules Identification Strategy.
(b) Development of LED-based Illuminating System for In-Vitro Culture of Plant Cells and Tissues
(c) Popularizing Science and Technology
