About
I am Dr. Rohit Gupta, a highly skilled Pharmacologist with over 13 years of experience, including 6 years in pre-clinical drug discovery. I have led successful projects for prominent pharmaceutical companies such as GSK (Stevenage, UK) and Sosei Heptares (Cambridge, UK).
I hold a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Cambridge, specializing in vitro assays using animal tissue and primary cells (DRG neurons) as an Ex-Vivo electrophysiologist. My experience includes working with in-vivo animal models of IBD, inflammation, metabolic disorders, visceral pain, and neurobiology. I have executed industrial and academic research projects focusing on disease mechanisms in IBD/IBS-associated visceral pain, new target discovery, and drug mechanism elucidation. I have also developed expertise in experiments on resected human bowel tissue segments and DRG cell cultures, bridging the translational gap between animal models and human findings.
Currently, as a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, I manage preclinical drug discovery projects for leading pharmaceutical companies. My strong project management skills ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and regulatory guidelines. I excel at communicating complex scientific concepts effectively, presenting pre-clinical development activities to company leadership, and preparing accurate preclinical protocols and reports. My solid understanding spans drug discovery, pharmacology, ADME, formulation, drug safety, histopathology, and IP.
