About
I have an University degree in Physics, obtained at the Universitá degli Studi (Milano, Italy, 1990) and a Ph.D in Applied Physics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Madrid, Spain, 1995). Since 1997 I worked at CIEMAT and, at present, I am the responsible of the Physical Chemistry of Actinides and Fission Products Unit (CIEMAT-PAFP).
The studies carried out during my scientific career focused on the physical chemistry of radionuclides and the migration of pollutants in the environment; mechanistic sorption modelling; the analysis of the role of nanoparticles, colloids, and organics in contaminant transport and the safety assessment of radioactive waste disposals.
I participated in more than 20 projects obtained in public calls funded by the National Plan and the European Community (EC), being the lead researcher in most of them.
At the international level, I have been actively involved in the Executive Committees of many research projects funded by the European Community, EC; (as FEBEX II, FUNMIG, EC-CROCK, BELBAR, CORI) working with top researchers in the field.
I am the representative for Spain in the Bureau of the OECD-NEA Crystalline Club and the contact point of CIEMAT in the Technological Platform IGD-TP (Implementing Geological Disposal of Radioactive Waste).
My Unit has also a wide long-lasting collaboration with public/private institutions and other end-users of our research, which turned out in several specific contracts for knowledge transfer with the radioactive waste management agencies.
I am author / co-author of more than 350 scientific-technical documents of which 140 are “Peer-Reviewed” and more than 100 papers are indexed in Scopus/WoS databases.
I have more than 200 participations in conferences, of which more of 150 are International.
