About
My name is Dr. Abhay Singh, and I hold an MCh in Urology and Renal Transplant. I am currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology and Renal Transplant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda, India.
My professional and academic focus is on Urology and Renal Transplantation, where I strive to integrate clinical excellence with meaningful contributions to research and medical education. I am motivated by a commitment to continuous learning and a strong belief in the value of sharing knowledge for the benefit of patients and the medical community. I distinguish myself through dedication, humility, and an eagerness to learn. I consider my ability to acknowledge and learn from my own limitations an important strength, as it allows me to grow consistently as a clinician, academician, and researcher.
Over the course of my career, I have made several contributions to the academic field of urology. I have published nine articles as first author or corresponding author in peer-reviewed journals, through which I have disseminated original research findings to both national and international audiences. I have also presented my work at six international academic conferences, providing me with opportunities to share my findings and engage in scientific discussions with experts in the field. My research has been cited 57 times, with a Google Scholar H-index of 5, reflecting the influence of my work. I am an active member of professional societies including the Urological Society of India (USI), the Urology Association of Asia (UAA), and the International Neuro-Urology Society (INUS), which enable me to remain engaged with the global academic and clinical community.
In addition to my publications and conference presentations, I have contributed to academic publishing as a peer reviewer for eight manuscripts submitted to reputed journals in urology. This role allows me to engage critically with new scientific work, ensuring that published literature upholds the highest standards of quality and evidence. Although I have not authored editorials, my participation as a reviewer underscores my commitment to supporting academic rigor and the progress of evidence-based medicine.
My long-term professional goals focus on advancing knowledge and improving clinical outcomes in the areas of female urology, functional urology, uro-oncology, and urolithiasis. These fields represent pressing challenges and opportunities for innovation within urology. My vision is to contribute to new clinical strategies, develop surgical approaches, and strengthen the bridge between research and patient care. I am equally committed to medical education, as I strongly believe in nurturing the next generation of urologists who can combine clinical skills with academic curiosity and professional integrity.
I bring to my profession a diverse set of skills and expertise. As a laparoscopic and reconstructive surgeon, I have developed strong surgical and clinical decision-making skills. I also consider myself a leader, mentor, and teacher, roles in which I take great pride. My ability to actively listen, communicate effectively, and build professional trust has allowed me to mentor younger colleagues and medical students successfully. I approach complex clinical and academic problems with a structured, evidence-based, and problem-solving mindset. In addition, my continuous pursuit of knowledge has shaped me into both a learner and a researcher who values collaboration and innovation.
Beyond my professional commitments, I believe in maintaining balance through personal interests and hobbies. Engaging in activities outside of medicine provides me with perspective, resilience, and renewed energy, all of which support my ability to contribute effectively in my clinical and academic responsibilities.
In summary, I am an academic urologist and renal transplant surgeon dedicated to advancing my field through clinical practice, research, and teaching. My career thus far has been defined by a commitment to humility, lifelong learning, and academic engagement. Looking ahead, I aim to make significant contributions to female and functional urology, uro-oncology, and urolithiasis, while continuing to mentor, teach, and collaborate with colleagues worldwide.
