About

Working as a Scientist (SS) at ICAR-National Institute for Plant Biotechnology, Delhi under ICAR, Ministry of Agriculture and farmer welfare, Government of India since 2011 and my area of research is "Pre-breeding and Polyploidy Evolution in Brassica (PPEB)". We are utilizing the diploid Brassica species as well as the crop wild relative of Brassica to enhance the genetic diversity of amphidiploid brassica species and transfer novel genes to the cultivated brassica from the CWR. Also, trying to understand the evolution of polyploid brassica by utilizing breeding, cytogenetics, and genomic tools.

Indepnedly handled the project for the synthesis of Brassica juncea from its diploid progenitor species and also currently working on the munificent utilization of crop wild relatives in the different externally funded projects. Also, we have generated a large number of genetic stocks (Synthetic amphidiploid B. juncea lines, synthetic amphidiploids of wild species and B. rapa, advanced alien introgression lines in B. juncea, registered three novel germplasm etc.) through wide hybridization which is being used for different research projects. We have a group of ten researchers including me along with four PhD students, one post-doctoral research associate, and four project students in our group.

At present I am working as Post Doc visiting Researcher at PHASE Lab, the University of Bonn, Germany under the SERB-SIRE program for 6 months from September 2022 to February 2023.
