About

Dr. Sudhanshu Shekhar is a Researcher at the Laboratory of Gnotobiology, Institute of Microbiology, Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic, where his work focuses on gnotobiology and the therapeutic potential of the nasal microbiota. He holds an MSc in Integrated Immunology from the University of Oxford (UK) and a PhD in Infection and Immunity from the University of Manitoba (Canada).

Prior to his current role, Dr. Shekhar was a Postdoctoral Researcher and subsequently a Senior Researcher (≈Associate Professor) at the University of Oslo, Norway, where his research focused on the development of commensal bacteria-based live vaccines and the impact of antimicrobials on infant and neonatal lung immunity.

His broader research interests center on harnessing host-microbe interactions in the respiratory tract to develop innovative therapeutic strategies for airway allergic diseases and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Of note, Dr. Shekhar is also a trained veterinarian and serves as an Editor for Folia Microbiologica (Springer Nature).
