About
I am currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, Panjab. I also hold an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Madras. Before that, I worked as an INSPIRE Faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Madras (2018-2022). I also worked as an Assistant Professor (Sl.Gr.) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Computing, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore (2022-2023).
I have an eclectic mixed background, including degrees in the Basic Sciences/Mathematics, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. In November 2017, I graduated with a Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi. I had the good fortune of being part of their respective impressive groups at IIT Madras and IIT Delhi: Computational Imaging Lab, Mathematics & Computing, Computer Technology, CS&E Vision & Imaging.
Before joining Ph.D. in July 2010, I completed a M.Sc. in Mathematics (2006-2008) and received an M.Tech. in Computer Applications (2008-2010) from Department of Mathematics, IIT Delhi. My core specialization is in Computer Vision, Computational Imaging & Photography, Machine Learning and Data Science. My endeavor is to develop novel affordable data-driven computational algorithms for 3D Vision Technology, VR/AR, Visuo-haptic Mixed Reality, Computational Cameras/Sensors/Wearables, Robotics Perception, Drones, Vision Surveillance, Agriculture, Defence, HealthTech Systems, etc. Besides, my research is also centered on Computational Imaging, an emerging field within Visual Computing. This area integrates techniques from Computer Graphics, Machine Vision, Imaging, Inverse methods, Optics, and Perception to innovate new sensing technologies. A central theme of Computational Imaging is the co-design of hardware and software, encompassing optics, electronics, and algorithms, to achieve imaging systems that deliver exceptional performance.
