Professor Jitender Madaan holds the position of Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management within the Department of Management Studies at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IITD) in Delhi. He earned his doctoral degree from the same institution with the support of a full scholarship. Prof. Madaan has actively participated in various industrial projects, leveraging his extensive knowledge in operations management and practical experience in industry to help organizations excel in their operational efficiency and sustainable supply chain practices.
His research expertise bridges two interconnected domains, demanding comprehensive solutions: operational performance and sustainability. His research scope encompasses broader subjects, including product and packaging recovery and the societal impacts of supply chain practices. With the continual evolution of the digital economy facilitated by information technology, his research now delves into the influence of IT on sustainable business operations.
Prof. Jitender is a seasoned educator, imparting his knowledge at the Doctoral, Master's, and Undergraduate levels and in entrepreneurship and professional sponsored courses. Notably, he played a pivotal role as a founding member of the Entrepreneurship Program at DMS, IIT Delhi. He has supervised the successful completion of over nine doctoral degrees and numerous master's and undergraduate student projects.
Before joining IIT Delhi, Prof. Jitender Madaan was an assistant professor of Industrial Engineering at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR). During summer school sessions, he also took on the role of adjunct faculty at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT).
His research contributions have found their way into esteemed publications, including the International Journal of Production Research, Decision Support System, Journal of Business Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Journal of Cleaner Production. He has authored over seven book chapters and presented his research at international conferences such as the Institute of Operations Research Association, the International Association for Management of Technology, and the Production and Operations Management Society.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Prof. Jitender Madaan has been at the forefront of several national and international research and consultancy projects, with funding support from public and private enterprises, including the Department of Science and Technology (DST) India and DEIT. His research interests are currently centred around modelling and simulating humanitarian supply chain risk and resilience, demonstrating his dedication to addressing real-world challenges.
