About

Having done an inspiring four-year undergraduate course in Electronic and CommunicationEngineering (B.Tech, Hons.), I have utilized my knowledge to nurture young fresh under-graduate students at a private engineering college. This gave me the leading edge in a better understanding of core subjects of electronics and know-how information of the practical experiments involved at the undergraduate level. However, research was always of prime importance for me and having the enthusiasm to pursue research in cutting edge technology I joined Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) in 2013 as a research scholar(PhD) under the supervision of Dr Ajay D. Thakur.

I received my doctoral degree from India's one of the most elite and premier research Institute (Ranking, BRICS-141, NIRF-22) Indian Institute of Technology Patna in 2D Materials: Synthesis and Applications in Sensing and Environmental Remediation. I have worked on Graphene, Graphene Oxide, Borophene, Borophene Oxide, Alpha Lead Oxide, White lead and hybrids of graphene and graphene oxide for its application in gas sensing, molecular sensing and for environmental remediation. Moreover, I am also well versed in the synthesis of 2D materials such as MoS2, WS2, GaN, BN, and their heterostructure using the sonochemical exfoliation method, chemical routes and their characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, AFM, RAMAN, UV-Vis, XPS, etc.). I am the first to overcome the hypothesis that freestanding borophene sheet does not exist. Moreover, during my doctoral training, I found the first visible light-sensitive material, namely, Alpha- Lead Oxide.

Since, synthesis of new 2D materials and their hybrids is a challenging, interesting and exploratory field to look for, I am eager to explore its futuristic role in the field of various scientific applications as well as its physical and chemical properties. I have published articles in Advanced Materials, Small, Scientific Reports, Journal of Raman Spectroscopy, Material Physics and Chemistry, Journal of Material Science: Material in Electronics, Applied Physics A.

Few achievements during my doctoral training:
2019 • Published article as the first author in Nature, Advanced Materials, Journal of Raman Spectroscopy etc.
2019 • Reviewer of Applied Surface Science, Materials Today Physics and Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics
2019 • Research highlighted in the cover page of Advanced Materials
2019 • Best PhD Thesis Award
2018 • Invited Speaker at 4th Global Nanotechnology Congress and Expo, Dubai.
2018 • 3rd Prize at National Science Day, IIT Patna.
2016 • Industrial award for making a circuit in real-time detection of Methane Gas Sensor.
2013 • Certificate of Successful Completion INUP Hands-on Training on Nanofabrication Technologies at IISc Bangalore.

In February 2020, I have joined the United Arab Emirates University (QS Ranking-284) as a Postdoctoral Researcher. My current project involves converting seawater to fresh drinking water by using 2D materials membranes (CVD) and in short, can be summarized as a project for water filtration and water desalination (keep looking into my account for latest update)
