Research Profile:
An extensive work have been attempted to shed some light on the microscopic details of several new ion conducting materials and their consequent influence on the macroscopic properties such as conductivity, dielectric property and thermal property depending on composition, temperature and other parameters. The significant results that blossoms as a part of this work is that in case of nanocomposites the ion mobility depends on the composition and also affects the overall relaxation dynamics caused by the growth of nanocrystalline phases within the glassy matrix. The relaxation mechanism in these glasses and glass-nanocomposites are observed to be of non-Debye type. The work thus shed some lights on structure and ion dynamics in complex ion conducting glasses and glass-nanocomposites. The thermal study on glasses using DSC technique is also carried out to some extent which reveals interesting facts concerning the crystallization kinetics. Further study concerning the microscopic network structure and its influence on ion mobility and conductivity and thermal behavior of glasses and composites
are being undertaken.
