About
Dr. Amanpreet Kaur completed her Ph.D. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Chitkara University, Punjab, India in year 2020 with expertise in Gaming, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. Dissertation title for her PhD thesis was “An Efficient Hybrid Tracking For Virtual and Augmented Reality Applications”. Dr. Kaur completed her Master in Engineering (M. E.) from Chitkara University in 2016 and B.Tech from Kurukshetra University in 2012 with distinction in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Dissertation title for her M.E. thesis was “Design and Development of Inertial Navigation System for Aerial Vehicles”. Currently she is serving as an Assistant Professor (Research) in Chitkara University Research and Innovation Network (CURIN) at Chitkara University, Punjab, India.
Her areas of expertise are Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR), Game Development using Unity 3D, Modeling using 3D Maya and Blender, Vuforia SDK. Her areas of interest also includes Low Power VLSI Design using FPGA, Energy Efficient Design, Xilinx Plan Ahead, X Power Analyzer. Her research includes implementation of AR,VR and MR based shooting tutors for Defence Training, AR based teaching and learning applications for Science (Physics and Chemistry) subject for secondary school students, AR enhanced application to educate medical students regarding medical devices and equipments. She is also working on the hardware implementation of cyber security algorithms using FPGA for Post Quantum Cryptography by developing polynomial based cryptography algorithms and CCTV camera data security in IoT applications. Her 6 patents are granted and 12 patents are published and 07 patents are filed by the Indian Patent Office. She is author and co-author in more than 100 research papers in the fields of FPGA, MEMS sensors, Augmented and Virtual Reality journals of high repute and flagship conferences.
She won the Young Scientist Award at the International Conference on Green Computing and Engineering Technology (ICGCET), Dubai in 2015. She bagged European Union funded Erasmus+ scholarship in 2018 for semester exchange in METU, Ankara, Turkey while pursuing her PhD. She received University Research Scholarship from 2013 to 2020 for pursuing Ph.D. and M.E. from Chitkara University, Punjab, India. She had successfully completed a government funded project in 2016 named as "Design and Development of MEMS based Inertial Navigation System for Aerial Vehicles” at Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIR-CSIO) lab in Chandigarh, INDIA while pursuing her M.E.She also received Research Excellence Awards and Research Papers Incentive Awards in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 at Chitkara University, Punjab, India. She and her team received extramural funding of Rs. 57.486 Lakh from Directorate of Extramural Research and Intellectual Property Rights (EP & IPR), Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for research project titled “Design and Implementation of an Intelligent Security Framework for providing Confidentiality and Authentication to Defence Voice-Communications using Polynomials with the FPGA implementations” in March 2021. Two times, she and her team received New Generation Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (New Gen IEDC) grant of upto 2.5 lakhs from National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST) for prototype building of “Airline Passengers’ Kit Application” and “Design and Development of AR based application to educate medical students”. She and her team were semi finalists of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2020 in the software version. She and her team bagged the second position and won cash prize of INR 2.5 lakhs in the International Quantum Science and Technology Hackathon (QSTH) conducted by Hackerearthand organized jointly by Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to the government of India, Microsoft, IBM, Amazon Web Services, STH, QETCI, Orbit Ventures, T-hub and Apollo Hospitals in November 2022. Recently she and her team won 3rd prize and cash prize of INR 10,000 in a R&D & INNOVATION ROADSHOW jointly conducted by the Department of Security Council of India and IISc Bangalore during Feb 2 and Feb 3 2023. She is also working closely with Indian Airforce and Indian Army to design and develop VR and MR based virtual simulators to provide training to the troops.
Currently 4 students are pursuing PhD in Engineering under her guidance and 4 students are pursuing Masters in Engineering under her guidance. She is a Lifetime Member of Institution of Engineers (IEI), INDIA and Professional Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
