About

Dr. Ajay Kumar is currently working as an Assistant Professor at PGIMER, Chandigarh, India. His lab is mainly focussed on uncovering novel treatments using stem cell-based and cell-free therapy for aging and neurodegenerative disorders including glaucoma. His lab uses tools like iPSCs based disease modeling, animal models, and organoid technology to investigate the disease mechanisms and uncover novel treatments. Dr. Kumar was a former postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University at the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Medicine, Stanford University. He is the recipient of "Stanford's SPARK translational grant", “Weigand fellowship in Regenerative medicine” and “Young innovator award in Medicine”. The main goal of his lab is to bring translational therapies to clinics and bridging the gap between bench to bedside. He also want to improve the ways mentorship is done by creating an ideal environment for his mentees to grow and excel so that they can nurture their passion for science and turn into excellent scientists, teachers, and whatever they want to be....
